Top Tips to Survive a Singles Holiday

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010
Travel Guru asked:

Singles holidays can be great fun, exciting and an excellent way to meet new people and make life-long friends. Many people still think that going on holiday on your own can be somewhat scary and boring. However, if you follow some of these top tips, they can be just as enjoyable as going on holiday with someone.

Important tips to survive and enjoy singles holidays;

1/ If you are going with an organised group, check out the size of the group & age range of group. You may feel intimidated by a large group or feel uncomfortable with an older group for example. Find out so you know in advance.

2/ Always research the holiday destination. Find out where the best beaches are, if there are any singles nights at the local hotels or bars, whether there are tour guides to show you around the resort etc.

3/ If you want to make friends, look out for others who are on their own and ask them politely if they wouldn’t mind if you joined them.

4/ Choose where to eat out carefully. You don’t want to eat in cosy dimly-lit romantic restaurants, look out for quite busy places where other people are dining alone so you don’t feel out of place. Don’t sit their miserable, have a smile on your face and people will approach you.

5/ Always ask at the hotel or resort about any areas they advise not to visit alone. You certainly don’t want to be walking around “dangerous” places at night all on your own.

6/ To stop yourself from getting bored when out & about, take a good book. You can read it at a restaurant, or when you are out for a quite drink, this will help you fit in and not look like you are uncomfortable with being on your own

.

7/ If you have a mobile phone, take it with you on holiday and arrange so you can make calls from abroad. For people on holiday alone this can act as an important safety net. Take note of your hotel telephone number, local taxi numbers, local police etc.

The above list is not exhaustive and it will depend on what sort of person you are as to what tips you think are worthwhile. Many companies now cater solely for single travellers and there are even some who deal exclusively with women only singles holidays.

Use the search facility on directline-holidays.co.uk to find some great deals & offers on singles holidays.

How to Get Rid of Man Boobs – Surgery is not the Only Way

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010
Davion W asked:

Getting rid of man boobs by surgery or going through a gynecomastia surgery is not the only option you have. We will discuss about the other methods that may be applicable in your situation and also what the surgery to remove man boobs is all about.

Many adults go through their adolescence with man boobs, or enlarged breasts. However, this could be a case of hormonal imbalances during puberty as they enter into early adulthood. These man boobs tend to go away as the teenager embraces his manhood when the imbalance is corrected as part of natural aging. These men need not contend with their gynecomastia condition and have no worries after a while. For the minority who continue to suffer from breast enlargement, it is crucial for them to learn how to get rid of man boobs. It can be emotionally disturbing to grapple with the issue especially when their manhood and masculine nature is marginalized.

Man boobs can occur due to illnesses, obesity, abuse of drugs, and the usage of prescribed medicine. The antidote to eradicate the condition of man boobs is to find a way to resolve the root cause.

Obesity is a major problem in lots of men with man boobs. The good news is that the man boobs condition can be readily treated by weight loss. With suitable adjustments made to their diets, lifestyles and physical activities, the state of their gynecomastia condition could be improved drastically.

Stopping the usage of drugs, be it marijuana or others can cause the gynecomastia to recede. Victims have discovered that when they stop consuming certain prescribed medicine which could be connected to the development of gynecomastic in their bodies, the condition resolves on its own without any further interference.

Those who have developed man boobs as a side-effect of medical reasons such as liver or kidney diseases are able to subdue the breast growth with proper treatment towards their medical condition – the root causes for the man boobs. Very often, recovery from the illnesses would get rid of the man boobs.

Gynecomastia surgery is the last resort when all else failed. Before you decide on this operation, speak to your doctor and ask for his/her opinion on the appropriate treatment to your problem. The root cause for the breast enlargement could very well be one of those that can be treated with methods we saw earlier. This operation is not suitable for everyone. Ideally, the patient would need to be healthy and psychologically stable. He should also have good elastic skin that would respond well to re-contouring. Afterall, the surgery to get rid of man boobs is a cosmetic surgery and sculpting of the breast is required.

The surgery can set you back by more than $5000. Consider this carefully and consult your insurance company. The sad fact is that if the breasts are not cancerous and removal is for cosmetic purposes, you may not be able to make the necessary claims. After the surgery, there can be chest discomfort. Physical activities and strenuous exercises should be avoided for at least a month for full recovery. Depending on the seriousness of the surgery and how your body is responding, you may have to put on an uncomfortable elastic vest to secure the chest area. The full recovery process would take several months.

Lose Belly Fat for Good–3 Tips Show You How

Monday, March 15th, 2010
Egan Cordova asked:

Your goal is to lose belly fat, but nothing you’ve tried seems to work. In this article, I will show you 3 powerful tips you must follow if you want to start making real progress once and for all.

Before we begin, I have to get something off my chest. You absolutely have to stop listening to the TV infomercials where they tell you that you can easily lose belly fat by taking their pill, or by purchasing their gadgets. There are no magic weight loss pills, and no gadget will do the work for you.

That type of advertising does legitimate belly fat loss methods a disservice. It creates unrealistic expectations, and when you don’t achieve the type of fat loss that’s advertised, it causes you to lose hope, and perhaps even give up.

Now that we got out of the way, here are the tips I recommend if you really want to lose belly fat:

1. Stop doing hundreds of crunches, or any other direct abs work.

I know this goes against the grain for how you’re supposed to lose belly fat, but bear with me. It doesn’t matter how many crunches, or side bends you do, no amount of direct abs work is going to reduce your belly fat.

The reason is that spot-reduction doesn’t work. You don’t lose belly fat by doing abdominal exercises. I’m not saying that you have to eliminate abs exercises completely from your exercise routine. On the contrary. You need to do them to have a strong core. But if you’re trying to lose belly fat, there are better ways to accomplish this goal.

2. Focus on multi-joint exercises that work the largest muscle groups of the body.

By performing exercises that work the legs, chest, and back. That’s the true secret for losing that belly fat for good. You should be doing deadlifts, squats, presses and rows. Notice I didn’t mention crunches or sit-ups.

Multi-joint exercises work the greatest amounts of muscles in the body, and this stimulates an increase in fat-burning hormones. You simply can’t get similar metabolic and hormonal responses by doing endless sets of crunches or leg raises.

3. Stop following fad diets.

There’s a reason why fad diets don’t work for belly fat loss. Most Fad diets, such as low carb, juice diets, or any other diet that restrict one or more macro nutrient destroys the processes related to the hormonal balance in your body such as the muscle glycogen process, insulin, blood sugar, etc. This stops your fat loss progress in its tracks.

And besides, no one can live off of these faddish diets for any length of time and they end up making you fatter in the long run, once you start to eat normal again.

There you have it–the 3 most powerful tips for helping you lose fat I can give you. So if you really want to lose belly fat, then stop wasting your time doing endless reps of abs exercises. Instead, get your butt under a barbell and do some squats. While you’re at it, do some deadlifts (any variation), some rows such as bent over barbell rows, and presses such as bench and military presses. Stay away from fad diets and focus on a healthy, balanced diet instead.

Stick to the tips that I’ve covered in this article and you will begin to make serious progress in your efforts to lose belly fat. Sure, there are many more fat loss strategies that I could mention but the two I’ve outlined are a great starting point.

Ghost Hunting – Televised Events

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010
Hazel Ford asked:

What I think we need to understand is that televised ghost hunts are edited to the point where they give the impression that there is continuous activity.  This is very understandable when you consider that they only have an hour to demonstrate 2 days worth of ghost hunting time.  This is obviously edited and therefore the paranormal activity seems relentless.  As a ghost hunter myself I can sometimes feel very envious of how televised events present themselves to the eager observers.  I wish that on an untelevised event we could get that much activity.  However, this is not the case.  On many ghost hunt events it could be a long arduous night with very much happening at all and when it does there is no repetition or replay of the moment.  We have to be alert and eagle eyed throughout the event.  The best thing about having a lot of people there is that there are more people to hear and see activity.  The downside is obviously that there are also a lot of people who can make noise which can be misinterpreted.

All ghost hunts are fascinating.  Every location is unique as is every ghost hunt event.  The people attending the event all bring something different in terms of energy and belief about what they are doing.  I wonder how interesting it would be for a public ghost hunt to be televised and how controls could be enforced in order to make it entertaining.  It would of course be quite an active event as the timeframe would be filled with the movement of the public and re-settling into various locations.  However, I could see how this could work.  It would be a bit like the public who watch the televised versions of a ghost hunt physically going into the Television to be part of the televised event.  No longer being an observer but a participator.

Have you ever considered going on a ghost hunt event?  If so then please visit our website at http://www.hauntedhappenings.co.uk and we will ensure that you will have an experience that you will never forget,

Adventure Travel Guide to Africa

Monday, March 1st, 2010
Bruce Haxton asked:

Africa is home to some of the best adventure travel destinations in the world. So whether you’re after a full-on adventure holiday, or just want to chuck some adrenaline-inducing activities in with your volunteering, Africa is the perfect place to do it.

Tanzania

Ever since Chris Moyles, Cheryl Cole and a bunch of other celebrities climbed Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro for Red Nose Day 2009, the mountain’s been getting a lot of coverage. But you don’t have to be a celebrity to take on the tallest mountain in Africa. And getting to the summit of this awe-inspiring mountain is a real challenge, so this is one trip that will be big on satisfaction.

Of course, there’s no need to push yourself that hard though! Slightly more laid-back travellers can opt for a little hiking instead. The views are almost as stunning, but you don’t have to put quite so much effort in. The Ngorongoro Crater is certainly a good place to start, offering fantastic trekking and unforgettable wildlife.

South Africa

South Africa is undoubtedly one of the best adventure travel destinations in the entire world. The coast is ideal for all kinds of water sports, so whether you’re a surfer or a scuba diver, a sailor or a water skier, this is the perfect place for you.

This incredible country certainly caters for the adrenaline junkies too. South Africa boasts both the highest commercial bungee jump and the highest commercial abseil in the world. At Bloukrans Bridge those with a seriously adventurous side can bungee jump off the bridge, plummeting a massive 216 metres towards the Bloukrans River below. While at Table Mountain, travellers can take in spectacular views as they abseil 112 metres off one of South Africa’s most iconic landmarks.

Uganda

It’s odd, you wouldn’t really think of Uganda as a top adventure travel destination – but it is. You should head to Jinja, a city that has become known as the adventure capital of East Africa, offering bungee jumping and even the chance to zip wire across the Nile.

Or for something that will really get the adrenaline pumping, why not try white water rafting? This is one the best places to do it in the entire world and you can take a short half-day trip or a full on three-day one, depending on how much time you’ve got. There’s something for every level too – so whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there’s something to suit.

Finally, it’s worth taking time to try the local quad biking. It’s not one of those activities that travellers tend to plan for, but it’s more than worth a go. And aside for getting your pulse racing, it’ll also show you the spectacular countryside.

Zambia

Victoria Falls isn’t just famous for Sherlock Holmes-related reasons – it’s also the perfect place for a spot of adventure. You can try your hand at bungee jumping, river boarding, canoeing, abseiling and speed boating – and that’s only the beginning. So if you’re travels are taking you through Zambia, make sure the Victoria Falls are high on your to-do list!

Kenya

For something even more vertigo-inducing, Kenya offers fantastic climbing. And as challenging climbs go, Mount Kenya is a pretty impressive adversary! It’s the biggest mountain in the country, offering magnificent views from its three main summits and loads of exotic wildlife on the way up. Just be sure not to rush – while any strong walker can take on Mount Kenya, going up too quickly can cause altitude sickness.

Or, for something that will allow you to cool off and set your pulse racing all at the same time, travellers should head for Mombasa and the coast. Its miles of white sandy beaches offer everything from surfing to jet skiing and scuba diving to snorkelling, making Mombasa a great place to unwind, with a dash of adventure thrown in for good measure.

Ghana

Thrill seekers in Ghana are advised to head for the Kakum Canopy Walkway – a set of seven bridges that look down on the lush rainforest canopy of the Kakum National Park. The dramatic walkway starts off at ground level, but the rainforest below gradually drops away to leave you suspended 100 metres above the ground, swaying precariously in the wind as you walk. The Kakum National Park is home to hundreds of species of butterflies and tropical birds, which are difficult to spot from the forest floor, but from the walkway you can clearly see them dotting the forest canopy with vivid splashes of colour.
